Varien Brings “Aether and Light” to the Darkness

Varien shows us yet again that no genre can strap him down as he creates an excellent blend of ambient, trap and bass music while adding in a middle-eastern flair in “Aether and Light.”

Ambient strings combine with a melodic piano/synth to create a beautiful buildup that is only accentuated when Nick Pittsinger adds in a middle-eastern kick to start the complex beat filled with swirling liquid bass that shows off his impressive production skills. Varien incorporates trap elements into the drop as he adds quick staccato mids into the track making this a fully fledged bass tune.

 Varien – Aether and Light

There are plenty of people that toss aside bass music when talking about the musicality of electronic music because of the assumption that these artists just throw together loops and add in overwhelming bass. Bassnectar and Seven Lions turned the corner as they created masterfully crafted pieces of music that has definitely inspired this new generation of bass artists poised to set the scene by storm. Varien is setting himself up for a brilliant career as he expands on his musical production with beautiful pieces of music.

Nick has been a busy producer these days as he has been credited on recent films such as Fast & Furious 7, The Purge: Anarchy, 300: Rise of an Empire along with TV shows, The Walking Dead and Bones. With a handful of professional productions along with a growing DJ career, if you haven’t heard of Varien yet, you are definitely missing out.

Check out Varien on his SoundCloud along with his Facebook and Twitter. Purchase the tune now from iTunes, Beatport and Bandcamp along with checking out Monstercat’s other productions as well and be on the lookout for a future tour for Nick Pittsinger. You won’t want to miss out.

Music has always been a passion of mine, being the kid trying to find the latest music to listen to. In college, I was exposed to Emalkay's "When I Look At You" and EDM quickly became my favorite genre. I hope to show people through writing what EDM has done to me and hope I can help people discover the beauty that is EDM.
