Deep Haus Halloween: New Music from Art Department and Seth Troxler
Canadian DJ duo Art Department (Johnny White + can definitely be attributed to bringing deep house front and center over the past few years on the major festival circuit. And, well, Seth Troxler remains the king of the hipster underground house scene… So what do you get when you bring these great minds together?
Something hauntingly awesome. “Cruel Intentions” comes just in time for the upcoming Halloween parties with a sound reminiscent of great 80s electronica mixed with bizarre found sounds and that great deep house beat –all brought together with Mr. Troxler’s voice.
In an interview with Pulse Radio, the Art Department boys said this new track came together when they woke up to an email from Seth at a very odd hour of his recorded vocals…. What I would give to receive that e-mail.
P.S. I had the good fortune to attend Art Department‘s first show of the North American leg of their “Natural Selection” tour this past Saturday in Chicago. The setting was Wesley Kimler’s Art Studio which lent it the old school underground warehouse party feel. The party went until 6 a.m., which I was not up for (probably had something to do with the four drink tickets I received at the door) but during the time I was there, Johnny White of AD spun a vinyl set which gave it that little extra warmth to make it an unforgettable show. If you get the chance to see these dudes on tour, don’t miss it!
