Josh’s Audio Therapy
In this edition of Audio Therapy I’m covering my top five favorite new release EPs from some bass heavy artists. With the holiday season in full swing a lot of artists have dropped new EPs for us to listen to, these are my favorites. Streaming and purchasing links are embedded below for your listening pleasure.
Kill The Noise – BLVCK MVGIC
My first EP on my favorites list is there for exactly that reason. It’s AMAZING. Kill The Noise, OWSLA resident electro producer from LA is back with a new all original EP titled BLVCK MVGIC. If you had to pick only one EP to purchase, this would be the one. Kill The Noise ever innovating on his sound brings us seven new electro tracks that sound fresh compared to some of the other releases in that genre lately. A few of my favorites are Jump Ya Body ft. Mercedes, Thumbs Up which features producer Feed Me and Saturn ft. Brillz & Minnx. This EP is a pleasure to listen to from start to finish, you can tell that some quality remixes will come from a few of these tracks.
AC Slater – Party Animals
Having not heard much about AC Slater before this year I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first listened to this EP. WOW is all I can say. AC Slater brings us four new original electro tracks with dubstep infused breakdowns. His production quality on these tracks is top notch in my opinion. By far my favorite track off this EP is called Night Owl which features co-production from Nick Thayer. The track is very melodic and has a very video game feel to it, definitely a favorite right now.
Monsta – Monsta EP
Honestly I hadn’t heard of the group Monsta before they released this EP on Skrillex’s record label OWSLA. They have been described as having the melodic synth thrum of Flux Pavilion, the tech-soul vocal drops of Moby and the reverberant snares of trip-hop act U.N.K.L.E. -but their sound is instrument-based and largely sample-free and it was Skrillex who found them. Here we have three new original tracks and three corresponding remixes. I won’t lie my favorite track is the remix of Holdin’ On which has Skrillex and Nero as the producers. The high energy of the track will make you want to get up and start dancing ferociously where ever you may be.
Alex Metric – Ammunition Part 2
Continuing on with OWSLA labeled producers we have the young British producer Alex Metric. I’m a really big fan of Alex Metric, I feel that he is always improving and experimenting with his tracks. This EP has a very original sound to it. Titled Ammunition Part 2, it’s the follow up EP to Part 1 which was released for free earlier this year. A few favorites on this EP are Rave Weapon both the original song and the trap remix by UZ.
Minnesota – Altered States
Last but not surely least we have the experimental bass producer Minnesota. My favorite part about this EP above the rest listed before is that this one is entirely free! All brand new original mixes from Minnesota. I really enjoy this EP right now and listen to it daily when I’m out and about. My favorite track on this EP is called Float ft. Zion I. It has a very melodic background sound with Zion I providing hip hop vocals over top. Overall this EP is worth your time to download for free and put into your library.
