Zomboy Brings the Dub to Dallas (Giveaway!)

UK Dub has been a long-time favorite of mine, and Joshua Mellody, better known as Zomboy, is no exception.  The British-born producer with a background in sound engineering has created his own niche in the electronic scene, and at 25 has incited a following many work years to accumulate. Zomboy’s first release came in 2011 with “Organ Donor”. It appeared on the “Game Time EP” which enjoyed over 8 weeks in the Beatport Top 5.

The first EP showed he could bring together melodic breaks and grimy dub in an emotional fashion, as well as drum and bass which flows through the vein of every UK native. It turns your body on vibrate and resonates through your fingertips. Several tracks on his second EP “Dead Symphonic” feature his apparent love of reggae beats. Both “Nuclear(Hands Up)” and “Gorilla March” showcase the vibe, and as a lover of the genre it only serves to draw me in further to his sound.

Also from the second EP is a track called “City 2 City ft. Belle Humble”. It is marked by beautiful female vocals that give way to hard dub beats.  It’s a Beauty and the Beast of music, and it’s my kind of love story.

Zomboy’s last trip to Dallas was Lights All Night this past December, and I couldn’t be more excited to see him again at the World Famous Lizard Lounge! His energy is contagious, and it’s obvious Josh is not only in tune with his talents, but how they relate and connect with his audience. With his debut album “The Outbreak” set to release in August, and fellow British dubstep producer Cookie Monsta on the bill, this tour is sure to be huge!
