Diskord Speak On Signing To Circus & Their Future Sound
With their new single “Tell Me Why” out now on Circus Records, bass duo Diskord only continues to succeed with their ferocious hybrid of trap-influenced dubstep; they have also enjoyed an array of support from artists such as Krewella, Dillon Francis and Bro Safari. We caught up with the UK-based act to find out a little bit more about the killer duo.

OTB: How would you describe your sound to someone who has yet to hear it?
Diskord: “In a nutshell: massive hooks, thundering 808s, and a bit of good old-fashioned British grittiness! What we tried to achieve, as Diskord, is a fresh, UK take on the trap genre we already loved, using all the influences that make us who we are.”
OTB: How did it come about that you signed to Circus Records?
Diskord: “It’s the age old, boys-meet-label story really… we sent them music and they loved it, so we hooked up for a pint, and the rest is history! It really is a dream come true for us to be working with a label we’ve both been huge fans of for such a long time, and to have such an amazing team behind us.”
OTB: How does it feel playing out your work to your fans at the live shows?
Diskord: “That’s always been the best thing about writing music – seeing the gurning faces of the crowd as you drop your latest tune… the stuff we’re making now is the best we’ve ever written, so seeing the reactions to our new music has been amazing.”
OTB: What was one of the first live shows you experienced?
James: “The first dance music show I can remember was the first ever Creamfields about a hundred years ago. Seeing Fatboy Slim blew me away, and I knew I wanted to be a DJ.”
Ed: “For me, it was Cypress Hill at Brixton Academy, and I ended up getting backstage and meeting them!”
OTB: You have been gaining a lot of respect from big names in the industry from your recent work. Who would you most like to play alongside?
Diskord: “It’d be amazing to find ourselves on the bill with Skrillex & Diplo, having been fans of everything they do for so long. Plus they know how to throw a party! Other than that, there are just so many great producers and DJs out there that we can’t wait to play shows with.”
OTB: What can we expect for the future of Diskord?
Diskord: “You can expect us to be working our butts off in the studio, then shaking our butts on stage, and playing out as much as possible! We have plenty of things lined up with Circus already, and some massive remixes we’ll be working on into the new year as well… so you haven’t heard the last of us yet!”
