Pegboard Nerds Take Things To The Swamp To Do Battle With a Beast

Paddle faster… I hear banjos…and bass. The swamp has unleashed a new beast, or rather beat, courtesy of the Pegboard Nerds. “Swamp Thing” is unlike any thing you’ve heard. With a rather eclectic mash-up of sounds, Pegboard Nerds step up their dubstep game a few notches with this remix of The Grid’s hit. In my opinion string instruments only enhance the electronic sound, but in this case, it’s the reverse.

While the banjo keeps about the same throughout the track, the effortless addition and subtractions of different beats and infusion of bass work, take this sound to another level. The samples they used really bring across this fun, swampy vibe. Pump it up even. I don’t tend to be a fan of drops, finding them a necessary evil more than I find them important. However, this drop will have you running to the nearest swamp, ready to meet the thing and do battle. This would also suffice for a boss battle theme somewhere, maybe Left 4 Dead 2.

Avicii may have started the country fusion trend. But Pegboard Nerds just hunted it down, smacked it around and made it their captive.
