Slushii Bass-Drops His Debut on Monstercat with “Emptiness”
We have all probably heard the artist name Slushii by now. Bursting onto the scene seemingly overnight, the mysterious producer has recently connected with Canadian imprint Monstercat for his release of “Emptiness.” Elements of dubstep past mixed with lasers, synths, and melodic voices remind everyone that the genre is still alive and kicking…hard.
Slushii – Emptiness
Personally, I have a thing for melodic dubstep and after the first 30 seconds, I was in love. Between the driving bass line, soft piano melody, and the vocals; this was heaven. Slushii surprised me though, turning the song into a mean and dirty dubstep track; but not in a bad way. Laser staccato notes replaced the melodic piano, and amplified the fast-paced bass underneath. Flawless switching between the two styles takes skill, and it’s clear that he has it.
Not much is known about the man behind the Slushii moniker. All that has been revealed is his first name, Julian. After Marshmello, Jauz and others took him under their wing, Slushii has exploded onto the scene. With remixes of Galantis, Kaskade, Adventure Club and fellow Monstercat artist I See Monstas (in addition to countless remixes), he hasn’t showed any signs of stopping.
With Slushii now on Monstercat, the Canadian label continues to solidify their roster with the next generation of artists. Featuring San Holo, Grabbitz, Haywyre, and Karma Fields, Julian is yet another addition to a great label that you should absolutely be keeping up with.
