This week I would like to feature two artists who will be playing at Hard Summer 2013 in Los Angeles’s State Historic Park: Clockwork and his buddy RL Grime. For those of you that don’t know, Clockwork is a Producer/DJ from Los Angeles and was signed to Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak Records at the age of 18. This was the youngest of any artist on the label at the time. His big room house sound is very distinct and earned him a spot at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas this year, and the live stream of his set already has over 60,000 plays on SoundCloud.
RL Grime on the other hand, came on to the scene with his debut EP in early 2012 and immediately became renown within the industry. He is also twenty two years old hailing from Los Angeles, California if you could believe that ;). He was one of the first artists to dive into Trap Music with his early hit, a remix of Kanye West’s Mercy with Salva. Both artists also have done a guest mix for Diplo & Friends, and RL Grime’s has over 400,000 views in four months.
Alright time for the spoiler alert…. If you didn't figure it out by now...RL Grime is actually Clockwork’s alter ego, which makes him that much better!!Clockwork has released two original EP’s in the last year including: Surge and Titan. However his bootleg/remix list is getting huge, and only better with time. With remixes of artists such as: Kaskade, Sebastian Ingrosso, Tommy Trash, Congorock, Benny Benassi, Steve Aoki, and Avicii. If you’d like to check him out here are his upcoming North American tour dates: July 26th Quincy, MA, July 27th Las Vegas, NV, July 29th St. Louis, MO, July 31st Las Vegas, NV, August 2nd Kelowna, Canada, August 4th Los Angeles, CA, August 17th St. Louis, MO, August 30th New York, NY, September 1st New York, NY, September 7th Vancouver, Canada, September 14th Los Angeles, CA, September 27th Fairburn, GA. RL Grime released his debut EP Grapes in April of 2012, while his most recent EP High Beams was just released on Beatport this month. Once again the remix/bootleg list for he's produced is just killer. He's done massive remixes of Benny Bennasi’s Satisfaction, Jay-Z and Kanye West’s Mercy, Chief Keef’s Love Sosa, Hey Ma by Cam’ron, and Look At Me Now by Chris Brown and Busta Rhymes. Whether it’s trapped out house, or real trap music that you like, RL Grime has a little something for everyone. You can find him on tour at upcoming festivals such as Hard Summer 2013, Mysteryland 2013, South West Four 2013, Electric Zoo 2013, and TomorrowWorld USA.
