FOMO is in Full Effect This Halloween
Halloween is the time of the year that the world dons the Raver culture by dressing up in crazy outfits and acting like nobody is watching. While you are standing in the long line to get your costume at Party City, you may be wondering where to go this year. EDM artists will be flexing their talent from Los Angeles to New York, Chicago to New Orleans and Miami to Dallas with hundreds of events taking place.
Before I take you on a journey throughout America though, I bring you ‘This is Halloween’ by Kayzo and Lookas. Using the original tune from The Nightmare Before Christmas, these two turn this tune into a monster hard-trap tune that will certainly turn the crowd into a horde of zombies as they dance towards the stage to feel the bass even more. Listen and enjoy the free download.
This Is Halloween – Kayzo x LooKas
This year we get the treat of having Halloween on Friday which can only mean one thing… it’s going to get a little crazy. Without further ado I bring you guys the one stop shop for the best Halloween events to look forward too this year.
Starting off on the West Coast, Seattle, Washington is sure to be a freaky place to be. Freaknight will be the star of the show that weekend as Kaskade, Tiesto, Carl Cox, Dillon Francis and Nervo make Seattle the place to be this Halloween. There is still a week left to enter into Only The Beat’s raffle for a pair of VIP tickets so enter now for a chance to win. These artists are some of the best in the game right now so enjoy your time there and enjoy the crazy things they have to offer including sideshows, carnival rides and a costume contest for the designers in all of us. With this kind of lineup, this festival stands as one of the premier Halloween events this year.
Moving down the Coast, California promises to bring the freak out of everyone Halloween weekend. 3lau will brighten up Orange County Thursday night in Costa Mesa before heading to San Diego to headline Haunted Harrah’s, joined by Justin Jay and Designer Drugs while Doctor P rumbles the bass in LA. Chuckie and Andrew Bayer will also be in Los Angeles nightclubs as Insomniac Events hosts Escape All Hallow’s Eve in San Bernadinho. Originally Escape Wonderland, this festival has one of the biggest lineups this holiday weekend. Adventure Club, The Chainsmokers, Tiesto, Yellow Claw, Noisia and Keys N Krates are just to name a few of the artists that will be there. Four stages, a maze, live art and creepy performers are only a peek at what Insomniac has in store for you at Escape.
If you can’t make Escape, make sure to attend Hard Day of the Dead on Saturday and Sunday in LA. Featuring a lineup as extravagant as Escape, DOTD is sure to be another great success. Knife Party, Diplo, Pretty Lights, Seven Lions and a B2B set with Deadmau5 and Eric Prydz on Saturday, this festival will surely bring a different vibe then Escape. A zipline, ferris wheel and some carnival rides will also be there. The second day features Calvin Harris, Zedd, Bassnectar, Zeds Dead, Big Gigantic and more.
Other notable shows:
Mountain West Region
Heading east, Las Vegas and Denver are the places to be next weekend. Las Vegas will be host to more artists than you can think of at their local nightclubs. Hakkasan, Drais Rooftop Nightclub, XS and the Marquee will be hosting events all weekend while Light Nightclub at Mandalay Bay will host the second year of #Lightmare. On Friday, Nicky Romero will don the famous Guy Fawkes mask presenting the crowd with the latest progressive tunes as the Krewella sisters sing their hearts out on Saturday. These two performances will certainly be a sight to behold as they are good friends, so look out for special performances.
If gambling and high priced drinks aren’t your style, Denver is another great location to get your EDM fix for Halloween. Hallowfreaknween promises to be the biggest costume party in Colorado and with the acts they have scored, they aren’t joking. The marquee headliner Above & Beyond alone will sell out tickets while the Stafford Brothers, M4Sonic, Topher Jones, Illenium and Said the Sky will certainly bring the crowd to its feet. Make sure to enter into their costume contest and enjoy the beautiful sound the artists create.
New Orleans is always an interesting town to visit with its sensational nightlife and love of art. Halloween only increases the craziness that is seen here as Voodoo Music and Arts Experience is back for its 16th edition and first since getting sold to Live Nation. The biggest event in the Midwest isn’t without an excellent lineup including the best of music. OutKast, Artic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, Awolnation and 30 Seconds to Mars highlight the best non-electronic artists there as Skrillex, Zedd, Galantis, Pretty Lights and Fedde Le Grand rock out the electronic scene. This three day festival is definitely on my list to attend and with this type of lineup and it being in New Orleans, it should be on yours also.
Dallas seems to be taking a back seat this Halloween as it will only host Foam N Glow featuring Waka Flocka Flame and Grandtheft. Grandtheft is sure to bring the bass so enjoy the rumbles and the consistent yelling of Waka. Houston celebrates Halloween early with Something Wicked happening the 24th and 25th.
Chicago is claiming to have the biggest costume party with Freaky Deaky, though Voodoo might beat them out. Featuring Flux Pavilion, G-Eazy, Kennedy Jones, Louis The Child and Robot Dentist, the bassheads out there will surely want to attend this event. Saturday seems to be the night to go though as Freaky Deaky brings Nervo, Kill The Noise, Tchami, Pegboard Nerds, Porn and Chicken and Zebo to Chicago.
In case you can’t get over to Chicago next weekend, head east to Columbus, Ohio for Haunted Fest. This lineup will make you drool. Zeds Dead, A-trak, Arty and Audien headline the show while including a Silent Disco stage for some homegrown artists. Featuring a costume contest that rewards first place with a meet and greet of the headliner along with bottle service and tickets to other shows, this costume contest is sure to get heated. While Chicago may sound appealing, this lineup in Columbus is insane and will definitely appeal to many fans out there.
As usual the East Coast likes to go big and Halloween is no exception. Starting off Thursday in Lowell, Massachusetts, NV Concepts presents Wicked Halloween featuring Above & Beyond, Benny Benassi and Audien. The trance family will certainly enjoy this concert especially after Above & Beyond rocked Madison Square Garden this past Friday.
After those three rock your ears, make the drive over to Brooklyn and enjoy Insomniac’s Boo! Halloween Massive. The phantasmic visual productions are sure to mess with your head as Knife Party, DJ Snake, Tommy Trash, Tchami, Milo & Otis and Craze rock your ears. Don’t party too hard though, you still have one day left.
3DM music festival will bring crowds to their knees over in Providence, Rhode Island. Datsik, Carnage, Brillz and Will Sparks are going to bring donuts down as they turn the bass up in Dunkin Donuts Center to round out the weekend in the East Coast. If you can’t make it to the Northeast Coast, Miami will host Cedric Gervais among others at its nightclubs for all the South Beach lovers out there. Atlanta is also hosting Big Gigantic and Paper Diamond so there is something for everyone.
There’s Something For Everyone
So as you gear up for another Halloween, keep these events in your mind as you try to find the best places to attend. There are countless other concerts going on around the country so if you can’t make it to one of these don’t worry just search around and you will find something. Halloween is the perfect holiday for EDM listeners to show off the best thing about the industry, acceptance. We don’t care what you look like, what you are wearing and how you dance, we just care that you dance and enjoy yourselves listening to the best electronic music.
Tweet @OnlyTheBeatEDM and let us know which events you’re attending this Halloween weekend. Sadly, David Guetta won’t be able to mind trip anyone this Halloween.
These events are sure to provide you with the spookiest of holidays and the craziest of sets. From all of us at Only the Beat, we wish you a happy Halloween and happy raving!
