Madeon Proves He’s On The Side “You’re On”
At only 20 years old, this guy’s talent is undeniable. You may have forgotten how Madeon gained his popularity; it was after a YouTube video surfaced of him doing a mashup of 39 songs using a Novation Launchpad. It received six million views in only a few days and now has over 29 million:
Leclercq began composing music at age 11 and went by the name “Deamon” which you can see is an anagram of his current alias. He has stated that his two biggest influences are The Beatles and Daft Punk, the latter of which is no surprise as they share a very distinct sound and style.
In 2012 he was invited to play at four massive festivals, Miami’s Ultra, California’s Coachella, Chicago’s Lollapalooza, and the New York stint of EDC. That year he also played several UK music festivals and provided support for a Swedish House Mafia headlining set. He has toured with Lady Gaga and was listed as #54 on DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJs list of 2012.
Every year in George, WA the Sasquatch music festival is held at the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge Amphitheater. On Sunday, May 23rd 2015, Madeon busted out his live launchpad skills. The beginning of his set showcased his song posted below, entitled “You’re On (ft. Kyan),” which he played with his gear tilted toward the audience for our optimum viewing. This song’s happy and upbeat tone and tempo are sure to get you grooving.
He then proceeded to sample, mix, and mashup his upbeat song selections, while transitioning with seasoned ease. Halfway through his set he brought the energy and pace down, only to bring it back up again. Accompanied by CO2, confetti, and geometric shaped screens, this kid’s energy blew my mind a bit.
