Deliciously Dark Dance Music: Friday Night Lights – Halloween Edition 10/10
Friday Night Lights – Halloween Edition
Seattle’s favorite monthly night dedicated to local talent is back and spookier than ever. In the spirit of Halloween, the crew behind Friday Night Lights (FNL) has a few extra special tricks up their sleeves you’ll have to see to believe. Fire poi spinning anyone?
FNL was born out of an idea Envymatic had, which was to host a monthly night that showcased local talent. What was once an idea is now a reality and you’re invited to experience the musical gifts Seattle’s locals have to offer.
When: Friday, October 12 // 10pm – 2am
Where: Contour // 807 1st Ave, Seattle
Why: Because they’re ridiculously talented. Read on to learn more about (and listen to!) these up and comers
Groove Spectrum has traveled to the far corners of the world and back. Many an adventure has been embarked upon and each one, in turn, was awarded a treasure. Something that makes you smile, something you fall in love. Something that makes you want to move. Something… Groovy. These treasures are the audacious beats that Groove Spectrum likes likes to play. Each set he plays is a journey where you can shed the stresses of life and just groove out with a flood of emotions and energy.
Groove Spectrum is influenced by a wide variety of artists from across time with a refreshing modern spin. Why pick one genre when there are some many to choose from? Why settle for one color when you can have every color in the rainbow? What’s your favorite flavor of funk and how do you like it served?
Alex Lueth aka Xander defines his style as “dark progressive” infused with elements of trance, house and techno. Influenced by Markus Schulz, Armin Van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Max Graham and KhoMha, Xander has been DJing for several years and has recently branched into production.
Xander believes in the art of DJing; characterized by harmonic mixing and the ability of using a refined ear to beat match without visual aid or other technologies. With several projects nearing completion, be prepared to hear the debut of his orignal music woven into his live sets very soon.
Seattle natives Ben Saffel and Jay So aka Envymatic have been making waves in the Emerald City music scene since December 2013. They’ve opened for A-Trak, Bassjackers, Luminox, Party Favor and Ummet Ozcan in addition to spinning at Aston Manor, Meydenbauer Event Center and Contour where they have a residency. Having focused primarily on DJing they’ve recently delved into the world of production and are set to release an original track in the coming months.
With a colorful array of melbourne bounce, house, trap and more Envymatic will have you tearing up the dancefloor.
Averscer, which means “one of the truth”, finds his truth in music. Spanning a range of genres, he seeks to push the limits of crafting beautiful moments in his mixes. From progressive house and trance to bangin’ electro and bouncy psytrance, he’s got it all. This October, join him for a special live set of Truth in Psyence. Bassy, groovy, and melodic, we bet you’ll be surprised by this psytrance mix.
