Hot Creations Showcase
Saturday September 27th was a day for the books as far as music goes in Seattle. Sean Horton (founder of Decibel Festival) does such an amazing job at bringing great talent from the unknown all the way up to the legends. This showcase was no different featuring Patrick Topping, Shadow Child, Lee Foss, and Anabel Englund at Level 3 of the EMP (Experience Music Project Museum). This venue was amazing with plenty of space to dance (unlike a packed nightclub where you can't move an inch). There was also a bar area upstairs overlooking the stage if you wanted to cool off/needed a drink. The crowd at this event was awesome and couldn't have been more kind/loving/respectful of everyone around them.
Simon Neale (also know as Shadow Child/Dave Spoon) hosts a radio show on Rinse FM every Wednesday night which is an amazing place to find new house music. Walking into his set I immediately felt at home. Everyone was grooving including Shadow Child himself. The subtle touches that he puts on other people songs to make his remixes/reworks are what really makes him stand out. Sometimes you don't need to do a whole lot to make a song give you that special feeling.
Lee Foss & Anabel Englund
For any music lover something that is really intriguing is the creativity/individuality that each artist brings to the table, not necessarily just the song selection. You can feel the connection that these two have on stage, it is vibrant and keeps the energy of the crowd high along with the music exceptionally well. Lee Foss is the co-founder of the label Hot Creations, as well as being a part of the group Hot Natured. His soft and smooth transitions fed the vibes of the room. Anabel's voice is beautiful, her stage presence is top notch, and she is drop dead GORGEOUS. When she sang 'Electricity' and 'Reverse Skydiving' I got the chills which continued through the entire set. After she was done singing Lee continued doing his thing, as she took pictures with fans and danced around the stage.
