Klingande: The Real Trop House Kings

Klingande at the Crocodile

The beginning of October brought back-to-back Kygo shows to Seattle that myself and quite a few other Seattleites were not very impressed with.  This got us thinking about what tropical house DJs could actually bring to a tour performance.  Luckily Klingande blew it out of the water bringing top notch productions, DJing, saxophone and even oboe skills to the table.

To start off the evening we were graced by Nordic Soul, aka Sean Horton, the founder of Decibel Festival.  His song selection was on point starting off with an Odesza track and only getting better from there.

The show was on a Sunday night but still drew a packed/almost sold out crowd.  Cédric (Klingande) played an eclectic mix of tropical, melodic and deep house.  As far as original tracks go, Klingande has only released “Jubel” and “Punga” so far; both are house songs with that sexy saxophone playing throughout.  With that said, there were a lot of great songs thrown into the set that I have not heard in a while.  One of which that I distinctly remember was a remix of “Bulletproof” by La Roux that brought me back a few years.  It was also very impressive to see how the saxophonist was able to take any song that Cédric was DJing and lay an awesome solo on top of the track.  I’m excited to see Klingande grow as well as seeing what type of collaborations Cédric will get himself into in the near future.  Something like Grizmatik vs. Klingande could be pretty epic!

To top it all off Cédric played a great three-song encore.  He started off with “Seven Nation Army” by The White Stripes, then played “Jubel” for the second time of the night (from the front of the stage) and ended with Flume‘s remix of “You and Me“.  After that he took a few bows and stayed behind to take pictures with a line of fans that waited for him after the show.
