While many people will be crowding the expensive restaurants around town trying to cozy up to their significant other, I, along with a couple thousand others will be crowding into the Lizard Lounge to listen to the EDM genre of love, trance, as Paul Van Dyk
makes a stop in Dallas for Valentine’s Day. Before you make your reservations for that $100 bill from Olive Garden, you might want to purchase your $25 or $30 tickets for a night that will remind everyone of the “L” in PLUR.
I do consider myself a bit of a trance newbie as I’ve only seen Armin Van Buuren
live once, and that was at a festival. I guess 2015 will pop my trance cherry, and trust me, I’m okay with that. Paul Van Dyk is sure to set a great impression filling mine and everyone else’s ears with the sound of love. With tracks such as “Guardian
,” “Only In A Dream
” and a slew of club tracks, Paul Van Dyk will turn the iconic Lizard Lounge
into a dancefloor filled with the sounds of trance and PLUR. If you need more reasons to understand why Paul is an iconic trance producer, check out these tracks below.

Only In A Dream (PvD Club Mix Teaser) – Paul Van Dyk, Jessus and Adham Ashraf feat. Tricia McTeague
As a first time trance
participant, I am excited to hear this genre where it’s meant to be heard, the dark house rave scene. The vibe is sure to be en”trance”ing. What better way to pop my trance cherry than to listen to an artist that has been performing as long as I have been alive. While perusing his SoundCloud
I stumbled across his 1993 live set at Simon’s in Florida. This set is over 20 years old and I can totally see this rocking out any location today. It’s incredible to hear the evolution of electronic music through one’s past experiences, let alone their music.

While Armin set my mind running towards trance, Paul Van Dyk will obviously take the role of blowing my mind with his live set. Brooklyn might take the cake with a 6 hour set from the man himself, but Dallas will get a blend of artists as Aaron Wayne and local DJ’s open for him. I first heard Aaron Wayne when he remixed Eric Prydz
’s monster track “Call On Me.” That track was a mainstay on many playlists I created and definitely is one of the best remixes of the song to date. Sadly I haven’t kept up with him recently and boy am I mad that I haven’t. His sound has evolved from Electro
to the groovy Deep House
scene which has blown up over the past year. This DFW native will surely mesh perfectly with Paul Van Dyk’s sound as he gets everyone into the groove with sounds from his Metaphonic EP

As the holiday of love looms closer and closer, we can all feel the love in the air and clearly Paul Van Dyk is feeling the love for the U.S. as he spends the next month in the states to prepare for Ultra. Can you think of a better way to listen to Trance? Purchase your tickets now for the event from the Lizard Lounge
’s website and check back later for my post event coverage. Get ready to see a ton of heart shaped pictures this weekend.
