SXSW Music Expands Electronic & Dance Programming for 2015
A note from SXSW….
Over the years, SXSW has championed heaps of musicians, DJs and labels that now make up the colorful palette of electronic music we all enjoy today. We’re set to expand this programming next month with an extensive showcase offering with the aim of being well-rounded and reflective of both established and emerging scenes.
While we continue to celebrate the advanced quality of electronic music on the main stage with Odesza, Ryan Hemsworth and Clean Bandit, we’re also zooming in on the best underground bubblers with Trouw residents Elias Mazian and Cinnaman for ADE, Jersey Club DJs Sliink and UNiiQU3, and adventurous genre-benders SOPHIE and Lena Willikens.
The night of Saturday, March 21 is particularly special for us as we end on a bang at the Moog Music & Switched On showcase, featuring Berghain resident Marcel Dettmann for his Texas debut.
SXSW’s influence on the global musical landscape remains vast; we feel the growing share of electronic music within that powerful context (in Austin, Texas to boot) is really exciting.
In tandem with our nighttime showcases, our daytime conference team has curated an excellent selection of panels. These discussions will include pertinent social issues (Equality for Women in Dance Music), opportunities for peer collaboration (Digital DJs Meet Up), and debates for audiophiles over the future of sound (The Un-Distortion of Sound – What’s Next).
