Booka Shade’s ‘Movements 10’ World Tour Pays an Electric Tribute
Few artists need as little an introduction in the electronic music space as German duo Booka Shade. Walter Merziger and Arno Kammermeier, captivated the masses and sent the audience into complete euphoria this December, just as they did ten years ago with their ‘Movement’s album. Even after all these years, their popularity in the U.S. is niche. They are however much more known internationally and everyone who attended their previous shows, said that, in any other country the venue would be would be wall to wall with people.
The Brooklyn stop of the tour was beyond magical. About the venue; the show was hosted in the Brooklyn Masonic Temple, this made for a pretty interesting backdrop. The attendance aired in the older side and everyone who came was there for Booka Shade. The crowd was really kind, not like the typical nightclub atmosphere. This created an overall lifted experience of the night. The opening DJs were Doorly and Alex Raouf they were both great, warming up the crowd for the main act.
Blue and white lights back lit the stage and Booka Shade came on around midnight. Those lovely full bass beats of filled the the room as the Night Falls came on followed by Body Language. They delivered tune and after tune of pure joy. Seeing their live show for the first time, went above and beyond my expectations. Their set finished up with the rendition of Night Falls vs Plastic Operator (Won’t Back Down). I think what brought the show to the next level was the fact that every single person in that room was in tune with music. Honestly, the venue felt at perfect capacity and sound level, if there could be such thing.
Next time, given the opportunity, I will go out of my way to see Booka Shade, and I recommend you do the same. Their North American tour wrapped up in Montreal on December 3rd. They will hit the road once again to start their Australia tour on December 30th.
