Photo Credit - Rukes OTB had an exclusive opportunity to attend the highly anticipated Los Angeles Karma Kandyland party on June 23rd. It was held at the new Kandy Mansion, which is reported to be one of the largest and most elite estates in Bel Air, Le Belvedere. In addition to attendance of the event, OTB also has the opportunity to speak with the Kandyland Resident DJ, Mister-E, for a better insight to these events, what are they are all about, and how they have been giving back to charity’s across the globe for the past 7 years. The Karma Foundation was founded in 2005 to “bring people together to drive positive societal change and facilitate good things coming full-circle” ensuring all but good Karma. Its membership is comprised of heads of industry, philanthropists, entertainment moguls, successful business owners, taste-makers, leaders, adventurers, experts, virtuosos and connoisseurs.  The moto, the members of Karma, and the individuals are all key factor that brings these events to life. This wasn’t just a party; this was a group of successful individuals, leading to the charge to making the world a better place by raising money for charity. This year charity for the event was Jenny McCarthy’s Generation Rescue which is an organization dedicated to helping children with autism spectrum disorders and their families. “Every action we take generates a force of energy that returns to us in kind.“ a quote taken directly from the Karma Foundation and was reiterated by our interview with DJ Mister-E, “The energy at these events is unmatched, it has the right combination of everything” and I can personally say I did feel that energy. Mister E also shared the transition of EDM into these events, “it used to be only be hip-hop artist, but now it’s the DJ, the first being Tiesto” which hasn’t been the last, since early 2008 Karma events have seen the likes of Paul Okenfold, Bob Sinclair, ATB, and Dirty South as headliners. EDM is moving into a place never seen before by mainstream America, it is landing into the some of the most exclusive events in the world. With all the moment with EDM, one thing that I hope to see happening more and more is all artist and producers developing philanthropies. DJ’s and producers, rock stars, and social influencers, one of the main points I wanted to highlight with this article is DJ’s like Avicii are giving back, making time in an already busy schedule to give back. Thank you to The Karma Foundation for an amazing event. Please be sure to check out the upcoming events.
