Do Not Sleep at Vista Club with Marquis Hawkes & Dense & Pika
Do Not Sleep have exploded onto the white isle of Ibiza this year in spectacular fashion, taking over Privileges Vista Club every Sunday bringing a number of exquisite artists along the way. Since its launch at the start of the season, alongside the resident three of Darius Syrossian, Sante and Sidney Charles, the unique club has welcomed the likes of Dennis Ferrer and Flashmob to join the always ecstatic party vibes. This week the three musketeers were set to play alongside British duo Dense & Pika and Berlins Marquis Hawkes who would surely bring out the heavier, more rolling techno features from the boys.
Vista Club was sure to be an idilic venue when it comes to the harder more industrial tones of Dense & Pika, with its high ceiling littered with in your face structures and of course the enormous windows that surround you it was safe to say I was slightly pumped for what was about to go down.
Marquis Hawkes brought his vinyl collection to an excitable crowd who lapped up everything he had to offer, launching his raw and driving sounds such as the brand new release ‘Jerk You Later’ that tore through the warm Balearic air in dominating style. With their last release dropping on Drumcode it was evident that the tempo would increase and the machine like synths would soon take a hold of everyone present as soon as the Dense & Pika double act took a step behind the decks. ‘TEX’ certainly went down a storm – its whirring electro synths left echoing off the glass before the arrival the raunchy kick drums and muffled snares begin the groove once more. The level of skill and confidence to throw in tracks from all across the spectrum is a credit to the boys, who once again demonstrated flawless mixing alongside a showcase of their undeniable gift when in the studio.
There are no better than Dyrossian, Sante and Charles when it comes to getting the b2b2b experience. Having played together for some time now, their new found home at Do Not Sleep has proved to be a success, giving them the freedom to showcase a huge array of musical ideas as a number of artists of different background come week in week out to join them. As has been the case the boys pulled it out the bag once again, playing on till the early hours where Vista Club is allowed to show its true beauty as it is filled with the natural light that casts down on the island of Ibiza.
The night came to a close, leaving with memories of one hell of a rave. With such a killer line up and inspirational venue it could only head one way lets be honest and with names such as Paul Woolford, Artwork, Breach and the return of Dense & Pika once more I feel I’ll be finding myself in the Vista Club once more.
Next up this coming Sunday at Do Not Sleep is Paul Woolford, Nathan Barato + residents. Hosted by Junk Club.
