I will have to say that about 95% of you haven't been to Pemberton, British Columbia. That’s OK (it's not really a hot destination spot). But, this town up in beautiful BC is hosting a music festival with one of the hottest lineups we've ever seen! Here OTB's 6 (well, 6 and a half) reasons why you NEED to go.
6 1/2. It's a 5 day festival
If a weekend festival seems a little short, no worries, you'll surely get it out of your system with PMF's 5 day schedule of diverse artists! So forget work or any other routine obligation you have during the week, and cruise north to enjoy the eclectic sounds at the Pemberton Music Festival.
6. The Gorgeous Outdoor Setting
For residents of the Pacific Northwest, natural beauty is part of daily life that may be taken for granted. Festivals set outside of metropolitan areas allow for city folk to appreciate the mountains, rivers and untouched landscapes that otherwise may remain undiscovered. However, venues such as the Gorge
in Washington State offer little recreation or accommodation aside from what is present at festival grounds. Pemberton brings both a beautiful natural setting and all the modern amenities that one could hope for. A short 20 minute shuttle ride transfers attendees from the resort town of Whistler to the secluded festival grounds. Of course, on-site camping is also available.
5. The Comedy Lineup
A comedy lineup that’s surprisingly good. Peep for yourself:
This might be the first time I might actually turn down and head to a non-musical stage. I wonder how that will feel...
4. An "International Experience"
You never quite know what kind of experience you're going to have when you cross the border into Canada. When you're in state lines, you can kind of predict and foresee things happening, but when you're over international lines, it's sometimes a lot different...usually for the better. Due to its proximity to both Vancouver and Seattle, Pemberton draws fans from around the world. Travelers visiting either of the two major cities to the south can make the short drive (just 5 hours max from Seattle) to the festival. Concertgoers will surely mingle with guests from a variety of countries and cultures.
3. Above & Beyond
There’s never a bad time for an A&B
set. Who knows, maybe all three will be there!
2. The Activities
A plethora of amazing activities, Pemberton offers something for everyone. Off-site activities: For the adventurous type, time away from the festival can be used mountain biking on the world renowned trails at Whistler/Blackcomb, or riding zip-lines through the trees. If relaxation is more your speed, pools, sun and dining for any taste is tightly packed into the pedestrian-friendly whistler village.
On-Site Activities: Without leaving the confines of the festival, you can zip-line, cool off on a waterslide or take an ATV tour. Pemberton has gone above and beyond offering creative and fun activities for all who attend.
If this isn’t enough reason itself, then i’m not quite sure who’s reading this. Set to hit the Pemberton mainstage Saturday night as anchor, true dance fans from the Northwest understand why this is the number one reason you should be considering going to the Pemberton. For some odd reason, Deadmau5 hasn't been to Seattle or The Great Northwest in ages (makes you wonder if he might have gotten into a tiff with a promoter or something). However, I’ve heard whispers saying he frequently visits the westside of Canada. Well, we finally caught up to him!
It's not too late to purchase tickets to Pemberton Music Festival. Go and get yours right here and we'll see you this weekend!!
