Freaknight Artist Spotlight: Grizmatik
Listen To This While Reading Through The Rest Of The Article
Funk loving bass heads rejoice! Griz and Gramatik are coming to Freaknight 2014 as GRIZMATIK! If you are not familiar with Griz or Gramatik you need to listen to them at once and educate yourself on what is, in my opinion, the best all around bass/funk music.
I fell in love with Gramatik after seeing him as well as Exmag (another must listen to) perform at the Showbox Market in 2013. His use of live guitar, sexy bass lines, and groovy dance beats left me wanting more the moment the concert was over. Gramatik’s most recent album, The Age Of Reason, is one of my favorites from this year so far, and is well on its way to being one of my top 5 for 2014.
Gramatik is one of the best artists to see live. His concert last year is still in my top 5 and that was when I did not really know his body of work to well. Gramatik is a champion of free music and has on multiple occasions offered torrent bundles of his entire discography for free.
You can find all of his music on Soundcloud and can find links to download it all there as well. I highly recomend picking it up and becoming familair with his work. It is the perfect music to put on for any occasion and he, in my honest opinion, is one of the artists who will stand the test of time when the EDM bubble eventually bursts. His music is classy, groovy, and is the perfect combination of electronic synths with traditional instruments.
Griz is the other half of the duo Grizmatik. He closed out Lucky earlier this year and was easily one of the top acts of the night impressing everyone with a very different style of set from the other headliners.
His set was bass heavy, groovy, and with the incorporation of his live saxophone, unlike anything I had ever seen before. Seamless transitions, beautiful saxophone, electrifying energy, and a whole lot of bass characterizes a Griz set. If you missed him at Lucky, do not make the same mistake again with Freaknight. Pick up both of Griz’s albums for free on his Soundcloud and Facebook.
Griz and Gramatik’s duo Grizmatik is best know for the track Digital Liberation Is Mad Freedom. A very fitting title given both artists style of giving away music for free.
DLIMF is a bass heavy, groovy, slap bass style song that bosts sexy guitar rifts, fun vocals, and a drop that puts big room house drops in its place. The bass from this song is so strong that when Griz and Gramatik both dropped it at their respective concerts, I was surprised and shocked both times. It is one of my all time favorite songs, and seeing it performed by the duo is going to be a slight dream come true for me personally.
Do not miss out on what I am sure will be one of the top performances from either day at Freaknight this year. Check out Griz and Gramatiks pages to find all of their music, and I will see you on the dance floor grooving to some amazing music this October.
