Annex Nightclub to host Josh Butler in Chicago
When my team first wrote about Afterlife events, they were a brand new reboot. Untried and untested, I sent my writer, Zach, to go check them out. As you can clearly read in that article, he was not let down.
Fast forward to June and the budding event series has established itself. Having booked acts that that have included Solidisco, Alex Kenji, and Stanton Warriors; the risks they’ve taken have begun to pay off. On June 25, Afterlife will host UK native Josh Butler with local support from Redux, Nikho, Nu Lucas, ARVII MALA, Lauren Koors, and Groesch.
Josh Butler became a household name in 2013 when Pleasurekraft remixed his deep house single, got a feelin.’ Since then, his releases have been featured on Noir, Cajual, Avotre, MTA, MadTech; as well as international tour destinations such as he Warehouse Project Manchester, Mint Club Leeds, Toffler Rotterdam, Chibuku Liverpool, Arches Glasgow, and Sankeys Ibiza. If that isn’t enough, he’s won the DJ Mag and Beatport Awards in 2014.
The event will be hosted at Chicago’s Annex Nightclub. The newly reopened club features two floors, four bars, and a killer sound system. Having played both rooms on several occasions, I can personally say that Annex is one of my favorite venues. Its Wicker Park location is perfect for the musically focused vibe. Rather than enforce ridiculous dress codes, overcharge at the door, and generally add to the douchiness of the neighborhood; Annex seeks to create an environment of openness and fun having. Their tagline “Come as you are, be who you are,” is no joke. Their crowd is as diverse as they come.
Doors open at 10, leave the blazer and dress shoes at home, and find your tickets here!
