Chainsmokers finally back to their old ways?
Back to their old ways?
What do you mean, Daniel?
Aren’t the The Chainsmokers those two guys that are famous for the #Selfie song and their new smash hit on KISS 106.1 Kanye?
Technically yes. The Chainsmokers have attained a new level of mainstream notoriety through there last few tracks, but it came with a price: People felt like they were selling out.
if you only care about “making it”, if you take every shitty commerical opportunity, this is what you end up doing: https://t.co/o0rzb5OutD

Yet, when OTB first started covering The Chainsmokers back in early 2013, remixes like Trying to be Cool, Medicine, and Sleep Alone helped form the foundation of The Chainsmokers identity. A reputation that was far different from what it is today, a reputation that got them coverage on blogs like this.
I have nothing but respect for the two musicians behind the moniker, but if I’m being completely honest (which I always am) I was extremely disappointed in The Chainsmokers. I don’t want this entire article to come off like a backhanded comment, but Selfie and Kanye, ESPECIALLY Kanye, are just horrendous. At least Selfie was funny, to an extent, and capitalized on a trend. But Kanye, I haven’t been able to listen to Kanye all the way through. Not even once. It’s just that horrible.
Bloggers are here to keep it real. You already get lied to enough by the mainstream media, and I have to keep it real with The Chainsmokers, which is why I had to bring up the past. It’s important to remember Chainsmoker tracks from both 2013 and 2014, because I’m not quite sure who they are yet. And the jury’s still out because this new free download is amazing, and seems to be a return to their roots.
Regardless of how you currently feel about The Chainsmokers, listen to this track, it just might change your mind about them (looking at your Porter Robinson).

Have the Chainsmokers finally figured it out? Were Selfie and Kayne all part of their master plan to engage the masses, before reintroducing them to actual good music?
I saw one comment on Soundcloud from a “fan” that said “Please go back to edm guys!”
All I could do was shake my head.
Let me know what you guys think in the comments.
