Welcome to our (belated) Valentine's Day edition of Mashup Monday, folks! This week I've got some relationship themed genre-smashing tracks from a few familiar faces as well as a new track from an OTB Mashup Monday first timer. Tracks this week come from the likes of Doctor Brixx, Ricky Cervantes, Pennwallace, and Breathing Room! Get ready to get down.

Doctor Brixx - Misery Loves Me

The king of the pop-punk mashup is back with this ballad-esque version of Paramore's "Misery Business". I haven't listened to this song in a long time before hearing the vocals in this mashup, and not only did it bring back memories, but I found the clash-less and seamless combination super satisfying.

Breathing Room - Boundaries

This is my first track selection from Breathing Room. I assure you it will not be my last. I love the unconventional use of the upbeat trap sample from Lexxmatiq for the instrumental pairing with Sam Smith's beautiful vocals. Breathing Room tends to use a lot of trap and future bass sampling for mashups, and that is totally something I can get on board with.

Pennwallace - Table For One

I am normally a very critical listener when listening to new mashups (or music in general). It's not that I'm picky or anything, I still enjoy everything I listen to, but I constantly seek for places that improvements can be made. So I think the only thing that needs to be said about this track is that when Penn sent it to me, I had absolutely no negative feedback to offer. I love this mashup.

Ricky Cervantes - Say My Name (Valentine's 2015 Remash)

This mashup is great, and is in fact a remash of a track Ricky made over a year ago. The story behind this track is equally as beautiful as the track itself. I will let Ricky tell it for you: "A little over a year ago I put together a mix of Destiny's Child "Say My Name", and shortly after a girl I didn't know messaged me on twitter about it. She loved it. We got to know each other over the phone and Skype, we met, and now we're celebrating our first Valentine's Day together. This edit is for her". Remember everyone, music truly does bring people together. Happy Valentine's Day from Only The Beat!
