Liquid Stranger is no stranger (hah!) to bass music, having delivered six full-length albums, a ton of EP's and singles over the course of his career as a producer. Strangely enough, Liquid Stranger has only recently made his way into my listening catalog, which is generally congested with submissions looking for a review or reliable old favorites that I've arbitrarily assigned to different activities in my life (doesn't everyone just have a favorite workout mix? Or one that sounds great in a car? Or study music?). With his recently released 'Weird & Wonderful' EP, Liquid Stranger crafts a bass-heavy, avant-garde sonic storyline that oscillates between the unbound energy familiar to the trap vibe and disciplined soundscapes designed to set your imagination free. The diversity of production we've seen from Liquid Stranger is respectable in a world where people tend to become entrenched in what they know well rather than pushing themselves to the limit, be it in music, food, ideology or politics. He's held the number one spot on Beatport Charts for a variety of genre's including Drum and Bass, Reggae and Dubstep. When you least expect it you can hear the influence of all three in his 'Weird & Wonderful' EP. From the Reggae vibe in 'Frankenskank', to the quips of Drum and Bass that peak out in 'Space Boss', the diversity of musical knowledge is obvious in the project. Moreover, the EP features collaborations with other artists, Space Jesus and Mr. Bill on the two aforementioned tracks.

Liquid Stranger - Weird & Wonderful EP

Liquid Stranger has just started his Weird and Wonderful Tour. I strongly urge fans of Bassnectar, G Jones, Shlump, UZ, and other bass heavy, trap-influenced, and eclectic producers to not only take a listen to this truly weird and wonderful EP, but check out Liquid Stranger on tour when it comes to a city near you. On our part, we'll be catching up with him at his New York City stop at Webster Hall on February 24, 2017, so be sure to check out Liquid Stranger's debut Behind the Beat interview shortly after the stop! wwposter
