Past Present

Canadian DJ Felix Cartal released his latest EP, Past Present Felix today on Dim Mak Records and we’ve got it here on OTB for your streaming pleasure!  Vancouver-based Felix (born as Taelor Deitcher), has been on a consistent winning streak with each of his new releases that’s hit the internet and radio waves and this new EP is no different.  Its first pre-released single, “Young Love” has already garnered a ton of popularity within the dance music community and was recently accompanied with an equally popular music video.

Koko LaRoo

As we reported when this single first hit, Felix can make music that just makes you feel damn good.  In addition to that music, he’s been able to pick some of the most awesome up-and-coming female vocalists to accompany his feel-good sound.  Both “Young Love” and “After Dark” on Past Present Felix feature Koko LaRoo, an LA-based singer who’s definitely got the pipes and sultry sounds to match Felix’s unique style.  Another vocalist, Ofelia, makes her debut on “New Scene” which the two co-wrote and I think her voice is downright amazing.  I’m a big fan of “Katsu,” which features the biggest drop in the EP; it’s pretty epic.

I’ve been following Felix for a few years now and each new release has gotten better and better.  This EP’s got a great mix of upbeat and dreamy tunes, and hopefully we’ll be seeing a North American tour coming our way.  Want to learn a little more about this new EP and the story behind it?  Stay tuned for an exclusive interview between Felix and OTB coming soon!

I'm a bit of a witty firecracker whose name you'll never be able to pronounce. I like long walks on the (Burning Man) playa and I've got a bit of a secret romance with minimal techno. My favorite tracks range all genres - music is music, no matter which way you play it. Watch out, because I can dance like a dinosaur.
