It’s rare to see a producer transform their image and sound so early in their career to great success, but Michael Calfan has achieved this task with relative ease. The French house producer initially emerged as, yet another, aspiring big room house star, but in the latter half of 2014, Calfan debuted a brand new sound and style on Spinnin’ Records called “soul house.” His re-debut on Spinnin’, “Treasured Soul,” showcased his brand new sound to the world, as his soul house style was essentially a blend of big room house and deep house, while borrowing melodic components from tropical house. Now, armed with a revamped image, and a brand new sound to match, Michael Calfan has delivered his latest effort, “Mercy.”
The track has already received support from the likes of Pete Tong
, Thomas Jack
, and The Magician
- a list of respected tastemakers in dance music. “Mercy” is structured around a house backbone that drives forward with gliding chord progressions and subtle percussion arrangements that make “Mercy” an early contender for this summer’s anthem.
