Don’t Sleep on Robbie Rivera
If you’re like me and you don’t listen to the radio (unless it’s c89.5), you’re always looking for new podcasts and radio shows to follow. Now usually I stick pretty consistently to di.fm and podcasts I’ve subscribed to through itunes, but I was dinking around in Soundcloud (reluctantly) yesterday and decided to listen to Robbie Rivera‘s latest episode of The Juicy Show.
The Juicy Show isn’t anything new, Robbie’s on his 532nd episode, but I feel like his brand isn’t getting the attention it deserves from the young kids these days (you know, the kids who think Martin Garrix is God…) and as House music steps back into the limelight in the US, I feel like it’s perfect timing to educate them.
EDM doesn’t have to be really loud obnoxious noise at maximum level. You don’t have to be surrounded by 100,000 other ravers under the electric sky in order to feel the music.
I think it’s hilarious that people even look at a DJ while they’re spinning. I look, but that’s only when I want to catch them doing shitty transitions so I can judge them later in private (or publicly on the internet…). If I’m dancing 100%, I’m looking around, sending out good vibes, standing with my back to the DJ just feelin’ myself; because we all know, the more you feel yourself, the more everybody else feels you.
I’ve always stated that American’s suffer from a lack of direction throughout these musical transition periods. Someone needs to step up and just tell people how to act. American’s still expect to be entertained by what’s happening ON STAGE even when Insomniac Events, the largest promoter in the USA, CLEARLY tells us that WE are the headliners of EDC. I guess the message isn’t clear enough.
A rave, a club, a show, whatever, a place that you go to listen to good music, the people always make the place.
How do you know a DJ is really amazing? You don’t notice him all night. You’re too busy dancing and drinking and laughing to notice that anything else is going on around you. You’re completely lost in your own world and everything else just fades away. An amazing DJ takes over control of your soul and forces you to live in the moment.
Listen to Robbie Rivera’s The Juicy Show 532 and let me know what you think.
