The second edition of Mixed Beets
features two tunes from the Nu-Disco
pioneer Todd Terje, another new track from Caribou, and a bassy sample from a Chicago singer-songwriter.
The mustache wielding, Norwegian Todd Terje uses elements of everything in his music and there really is no describing exactly what is sound is except for Terje-esque. He will use element of Jazz, Samba and infuse it into House. Arguably his most popular song, Inspector Norse, is featured in this mix and the song has an interesting inspiration.
The documentary, WHATEVERST
, follows the day in the life of failed musician and internet sensation, Marius Solem Johansen whose internet alias is Inspector Norse. It is only 15 minutes and worth the watch! Once you have really sunk into his music make sure to check out 15 of his best rarities
SBTRKT recently came out with an EP(Transitions
) earlier this year that could be streamed via a trippy page and has an album coming out on September 22nd. Caribou was included in last week's mix and recently released a new track that will be on the album that is set to release in early October.
Made in Heights makes interesting use of Sufjan Steven's beautiful piano melody from his 2005 track, Concerning the UFO Sighting Near Highland, Illinois,
by including it in there bass heavy, "Skylark Interabang?"
Also included on the mix is a remix of Tycho's, "Awake" from Comtruise, stellar house tracks from Isaac Tichauer, Grum, and Bodhi, and finally a perfect send off from Parra Cova who I found via the Poolside Sounds Future Disco Mix
, totally worth the listen. It changed my life.
