Catch Up With Cuebrick

Cuebrick is one of the busiest producers in the dance music scene at the moment, juggling radio shows, making new music and playing all over the world. A remix EP of his tracks “Demon” and “Save Me” has just dropped on Enhanced Recordings and he has plenty more in the pipeline. We caught up with the talented German artist for a chat about all things musical.

* * *

OTB: How long have you been producing?

C: “I’ve been producing around 10 years. But my first singles were released about 2 years ago.”

OTB: Who would you call major musical influences?

C: “I came in contact with electronic dance music for the first time at the age of 13. At that time I started to listen to drum & bass and two-step. I think my major influences at that time had been artists like DJ Hype, DJ Zinc, DJ Fresh, Sub Focus, just to name a few. A few years later, I started to listen to house music, especially the early David Guetta singles like “The World Is Mine” or “Put Your Hands Up 4 Detroit” by Fedde Le Grand. I always liked vocals. I think that’s why I’m so much into progressive house.”

OTB: How would you sum up your sound in three words?

C: “Energetic, Melodic + Vocalised”

OTB: Out of “Demon” and “Save Me”, do you have a favorite?

C: “Yes, I personally like “Save Me“ more. I love the great energy in the drop although it is still very melodic. And I love the little dubstep part – I’m very happy that I made this one so varied.”

OTB: Do you have any upcoming releases you can spill the beans on?

C: “Yeah, for sure. There is a lot coming up in the next months. In July I’ll have my debut on Flamingo Recordings with a track that’s a bit different from the styles I’ve made so far. Then there will be new tracks on Deal Records (Cloud9) and of course a follow up on Enhanced Recordings.”

OTB: Where can we catch you playing this summer?

C: “Right now I’m playing some big festivals here in Germany. For example I played the World Club Dome in Frankfurt a few weeks ago, side by side those big names like David Guetta, Hardwell, Avicii & Steve Angello. The next two months I’m playing on a big color festival tour all over Germany, Switzerland & Italy. And I’m very much looking  forward to playing Ruhr in Love & Open Beatz Festival, which are very big festivals here in Germany. It would be great to see you guys there!”

OTB: We’d love to! Thanks for your time.
