Behind the Beat: Fountain of Youth

The Barong Family label releases quite a bit of hardcore Amsterdam trap with the likes of Yellow Claw, Moksi, Cesqeaux, and company. However, the label has added few new members of the family in the that have a much more chill, summer-y vibe. The new trio made up of Yung Felix, Space Kees, and Tellem formed Fountain of Youth back in March of 2016 with the release of their first EP titled ”Sunrise”.
The group prides itself of making music collaboratively and has a slew of new music ready for your listening pleasure. The tracks that they have produced thus far are both inspirational and relaxing. Fountain of Youth is the new sound of the Summer that is refreshing and something that make you want to just hang on the beach all day.
Only The Beat: Tell us a little about yourselves. How did you come together to form Fountain of Youth?
Fountain of Youth: We had all worked with each other on some music before and decided to form the group when we got high one night on the the beach of Curacao.
OTB: You guys recently released a new EP ‘High Noon’. Can you tell us about this project and the initial reception?
FOY: The reception has been great. Lots of nice reactions. We set out to make some happy and danceable songs and people seem to relate.
Fountain of Youth – ‘High Noon’
OTB: Your collective sound is very different than most of the other artists on the Barong Family. Are you excited to have the opportunity to add the tropical summer vibe sound to such a prominent label?
FOY: Yes, they made us feel like a welcome addition and we’re very excited. The whole experience has been lot of fun. Every artist on the label just wants to make the best music and I think that counts for every genre Barong releases.
OTB: What other artists influence your style and who do you follow in the industry?
FOY: It’s hard to pinpoint a particular artist but we have been listening to a lot of Future. Maybe, it’s cliché but we basically let everything we hear influence us.
OTB: What is your favorite track that you have produced thus far?
FOY: Every new track we make is our new baby.
OTB: Outside of Djing and producing, what are your other interests or hobbies?
Tarik: Watching Anime
SpaceKees: Collecting Transformers
OTB: What can we expect from you this year? Any big shows, mixes or collaborations coming up?
Fountain of Youth: We doing a lot of Dutch festivals this summer like Mysteryland & Solar and we’re looking to do a video for the second EP. There will also be a third EP ready for release later this summer.
