Crystal Castles Calling it Quits After A Decade

After a decade together, 3 albums, and multiple tours and headlining shows worldwide, the experimental Toronto grown electronic duo Crystal Castles are finally calling it quits.

Alice Glass of Crystal Castles took to twitter the morning of October 8, 2014 to announce she was leaving the group. Here are the tweets she expressed to us:

Although announcing this breakup, vocalist Alice Glass leads in to say she will continue her career as a solo artist. Nothing has been mentioned from other half, Ethan Kath, producer of the group. Despite Crystal Castles last show to be almost a year ago, no signs were shown that there were any disturbances to lead to this, we’ve been completely blindsided by this breakup.

With their sound being described as “ferocious, asphyxiating sheets of warped two-dimensional Gameboy glitches and bruising drum bombast that pierces your skull with their sheer shrill force, burrowing deep into the brain like a fever”, it’s no doubt that their uniqueness in the electronic dance music world will be something missed. One door closing, and possibly two more open, let’s hope Alice Glass and Ethan Kath continue on in their own musical careers and continue to bring us edgy, chaotic tunes.
