Yolanda Be Cool’s “MAMA YO!” Remix Brings Back Retro

Aussie duo Yolanda Be Cool have had quite the ride since releasing their 2010 smash hit “We No Speak Americano,” which now boasts over 40 million views on YouTube. Since then members Andrew Stanley and Matthew Handley have gone on to release club hits through Steve Aoki‘s Dim Mak and their own label Sweat It Out.

But now it appears the boys are going back to their funky, retro roots as their latest remix of “MAMA YO!” makes its way to North America. Already charting in European countries since its international release, the boys truly display their signature style in what is sure to be one of this summer’s pop/dance smashes.

The original comes from Cuban singer/songwriter Mayra Veronica–best known for her US Billboard Dance Chart #1 hit “Mama Mia”–and is a remake on the classic Carmen Miranda song “Mamãe Eu Quero” that’s been covered by Hollywood greats like Lucille Ball and the Marx Brothers. Check out the vintage-inspired original music video for “MAMA YO!” that’s at 1 million views and counting below!
