I fell in love with trance back in 2001. I remember standing in the Fred Myers department store across the street from Kennelly Keys where I had drum lessons and using the cd scanner to preview tracks off of random cd's. It was like stumble upon for music, but in real life haha. At that point in my life I had no idea trance music even existed, and although this was still in the 139/140 bpm range, it was like nothing else I'd ever heard and made me feel like nothing else had ever made me feel.
I went through a few different music stages in high school and didn't truly come back to Trance full time until college. A friend of mine put of bunch of tracks on my ipod and it was like banger after banger. I remember asking myself, "What the hell is a Dirty South remix? And why is every one of them so good?"
I credit Dirty South's remix of Tiesto's track "In the Dark" for rekindling my love affair with trance. Year's later and the guy is still KILLING it with remixes like this one he did for John Dahlback. Fast, slow, bangs out, yet throws some emotion into the mix. Another track that gives me everything I'm looking for in a song.
I decided to post First State's Cross Roads podcast 138 below as well because he starts it off with a bashup of the same track, but it is a little harder, which I'm sure all of you will enjoy as well! Happy #bumpday!
