Tyler Sherritt – Petrichord (Original and Alex M.O.R.P.H. Remix)
Only a few artists fit into the quadruple threat category and Tyler Sherritt is one of them. It’s not often a producer and DJ writes and sings on his own tracks, but the NYC-based tour-de-force does it all while also managing to tour all around the US, playing with some of the biggest DJs at the top dance venues. Now Tyler’s first independent release–the progressive vocal house track ‘Petrichord’—is out now on Beatport via Garuda Music, accompanied by the energy-boosted Alex M.O.R.P.H. remix. Gareth Emery, Ben Gold, Mark Eteson and Armin van Buuren have all shown their support for the track on their respective radio shows since it made its debut at EDC New York in May.
The Original ‘Petrichord’ mixes introspective lyrics and a steady flow of fat beats topped by a grinding bassline. Tyler’s melodious voice cultivates the diligent build up into a frenzied, unfaltering drop splattered with triplet rhythms and flavored synths.
Alex M.O.R.P.H.’s version accelerates the track into a higher BPM and lifts Tyler’s reverberating vocals to a euphoric trance state. Moving through a darker progression of beats, the remix to ‘Petrichord’ pushes the track to the next level while remaining true to the dancefloor worthiness of the original.
