Psychedelic Saturdays Vol 10
Is it already volume 10?! Wait, how did this happen? Stop it, time! All bitching aside, I’ve got some good ones for you today; I don’t know what is with this month, but as I said in the last Psychedelic Saturdays, the world of psy-trance is really going crazy right now! I don’t even know where to begin with all these new tracks.
Critical Choice – Out of Orbit
Oh boy, more Critical Choice! I love that his EP is being released through Soundcloud at different times. The track was pure awesomeness; I felt like I was in an 80’s movie soundtrack. Critical Choice added a really cool effect when they built the song up gradually after the breakdown, by using a slower 8th note bass-line, then accelerating back to sixteenth notes.
Sonic Entity and StarLab – Rising Hope
For whatever reason, this song really got to me. All I wanted to do was close my ears and feel the music in my body! Also, I’m digging the “Lord of the Rings’ vibe the song’s got going on in the second half. I bet Arwin, Aragorn, and the rest of the characters would be proud.
Jacob – Midnight Cheer EP teaser
I am obsessed with this EP already. I am completely in love with the progressive nature of all the tracks; there are so many styles Jacob throws into the mix! At first I was psyched that the first track sounded like Deadmau5, but then the second track blew me away when it broke down into reggae. Like, whaaa?? This Thanksgiving I am thankful to have Jacob and “Midnight Cheer” in my life.
Cosmosis & Quantica – Transcend the Limits
Youtube has got some gems on it – I’m a fan of this one! Three minutes into the track really “Transcends the Limits”, by throwing a cool percussion sample into the mix. The fast tempo of this song had me constantly moving as well; the overall vibe is almost tribal in nature, and the beat really brought out a primitive nature.
Suntree – Outside (Boom 2014 Edit)
Ok, obviously I’m late to the game on this one, don’t judge! The Boom edit of “Outside” is quite an otherworldly track; the sound samples used are very futuristic, while the synths sound like they came out of a retro space movie. “It must come from outside,” is muttered during both breakdowns, as classic UFO samples sound in the background. At first I thought it was hilarious and kind of corny, but now I’m really enjoying that touch!
