Varien Conceives A Genreless Beast, "Below the Surface"

Thursday, April 09, 2015

I always love finding tracks that you simply can't put a genre to after several listen. "It could be trap. Or future bass. Or drumstep. Crap, what is it?!" This was my thought process after have Varien's new original "Below the Surface" on repeat today. The Tampa-based producer expertly combines nebulous synth pulsates with click-clack percussion jabs with a tear-jerking saxophone tenors to really send our brains into a tizzy. Teaming up with soulful songstress Aloma Steele once again, Varien strays away from his usual vicious dubstep production skills to show us a more graceful and uplifting side to his creative capacities. He has left this one up for the people to download for free so be sure to grab this future-bending tune here.
