Five EDM Podcasts You May Have Missed Last Week
While perusing SoundCloud for hours hosts its share of exciting discoveries, listening to EDM podcasts by the DJs whose tastes you trust is another great way to find out about music you may have glossed over, or simply want to hear again. The following are 5 EDM podcasts from the last week or so worth listening to in their entirety. We’ve taken the liberty in mentioning tracks that stood out from each one.
1. EDX – No Xcuses 300
To celebrate 300 episodes of his beloved NoXcuses podcast, Swiss dance veteran EDX played an extended 2-hour set, the first hour featuring several upcoming releases on Enormous Tunes, and the second exclusively made up of the most requested originals and remixes from the Enormous Tunes. He also mentions a special giveaway with Shazam, where five lucky fans will receive an autograph-engraved EDX speaker. In addition to debuting Croatia Squad’s brand new single “Waking Up The Neighbors,” EDX drops a slew of classics back to back like “Weapon,” “Everything,” and “Touched.” He is in the middle of another wide-ranging North American tour right now with a stop at New York’s Marquee on December 16th.
2. Kyau & Albert – Euphonic Sessions December 2016
Fun-loving German Trance duo Kyau & Albert are back this month with another two-hour episode of their favorite progressive and trance tracks. Some standouts include: Zac Waters – Horizon, Beatsole – Theory Of Chances and Norberto Loco – Memories (Woody Van Eyden Remix Club Edit). Catch them on tour when they travel to California, and New York in the coming weeks; On New Year’s Eve, they head to East Africa to spin in Nairobi!
3. DJ France Guest Mix – Kaskade 12/2016
Beginning with his new collaboration with deadmau5 and Skylar Grey, Kaskade’s mix for DJ Mag France includes a blend of deep, ambient production and heavier tracks, including the beloved “Never Sleep Alone.” Kaskade seamlessly alternates between the two, taking the listener on an emotional roller coaster.
4. Axtone Presents: NEW_ID Smörgåsbord
A constant source of energetic house and resident DJ of all Axtone label events NEW_ID, along with Kryder & Tom Staar (with whom he has collaborated), is responsible for bringing the groove back to the Big Room. He takes over the decks for this month’s edition of ‘Axtone Presents Smorgasbord,’ blending his signature progressive melodies with Nu Disco, and a top-notch orchestral intro edit of his recent smash single “Lovestruck.” You can find one of his live sets here.
5. AVICII – Le7els 054
Despite retiring from the public eye this past August, Tim Bergling aka Avicii has made it clear he’s not saying goodbye to music, evident in his commitment to continue with his monthly Le7els radio show. This month’s batch showcases releases like HI-LO & Sander van Doorn’s latest collaboration ‘WTF’ (currently sitting at #2 on the Beatport Top 100 chart), BLR’s melodic deep-reaching “Chá Preto” and a delightfully jazzy single from tropical guru Bakermat.
